Carrier IQ spyware on mobile devices.

I have Superuser on my ATRIX.

It seems to mostly be a problem introduced by the carriers, not the phone manufacturers. OSNews has two front page stories, the first with the breaking security-privacy news, and the second with a collection of statements from various smartphone companies. http://www.osnews.com/ Sprint and ATT admit to using CarrierIQ; Verizon says they do not. Most of the manufacturers deny any involvement.

I rooted my phone.

Carrier IQ says the problem isn't with their diagnostic logging software, and says the keystroke logging is happening at the operating system level:

"We're as surprised as anybody to see all that information flowing," Andrew Coward, Carrier IQ's director of marketing, told CNNMoney in an interview. "It raises a lot of questions for the industry -- and not [only] for Carrier IQ." ...Coward insisted that the Carrier IQ software was not responsible for the logging of keystrokes and other user data. He said the program does not need to log that kind of information to serve its purpose of transmitting network diagnostic data to the phone's carrier.

Instead, Coward said the logging was happening at the operating system level, likely as a result of add-on software installed by the handset manufacturers. But he couldn't say for sure.

Stay tuned...

I had read a couple of articles earlier today. I got the impression almost everybody is claiming they aren't guilty. This does give the impression that everybody is lying. :p

Right, everybody is blaming someone else, and they all claim they knew nothing. If they end up unemployable they could try going into politics....

if you don't think that every keystroke you make online is logged somewhere, you are a fool.

The NWO knows what kind of porn you look at.

You ever notice how the forum software Auto Saved your comments even if you don't post them ?

Seems like fair warning. ;)

The new forum software reads your mind even if you aren't typing.

Being rooted doesn't mean a thing unless you are running a custom ROM and the developer took out the suspicious files. If you are rooted, have a look at miks roms at theMikMik.com. Mik took out the carrier iq files several months ago.
