I am not up to date on California knife laws and was wondering if it is still legal to carry a Buck knife on your belt.

1) With shirt tucked and sheath in plain sight?
2) Wearing a jacket and sheath concealed?

Seems like 30 years ago 1 in 50 guys on the street carried a buck or other knife you could see on his belt, don't see this anymore.

There was a lot of confusion from a few years ago about the "dirk or dager" statute. This would have made virtually any knife illegal, if somebody could call it a dirk or dagar. That has been clarified now, and dirks and dagars are specifically defined.

State knife law in Calfornia is actually quite reasonable. You can carry a 4" folder almost anywhere...even concealed. Knives that clip on the pocket are all the rage these days...and for good reason, so that is why sheaths are rare.

Some local areas like LA may have some weird laws, but they are not the norm.

If you have been out of knives for a few years, things have really changed! Folding "tactical" knives are now very formidable and workable weapons. You will also notice that the prices have gone up.....

Retire the old Buck knife to work knife duties, and get yourself a modern folder!

Per State law, it is legal for you to carry your 110, openly or concealed. Some cities have more restrictive laws, so you will want to look into the laws for your city as well.

I was fishing over in Gloucester Mass. with my buddy a couple of years ago. We were on the state pier. There were quite a few guys fishing there. I was amazed that almost everyone had a folder with clip on their pocket. They had fillet knives too. I guess everyone carries a folding knife these days. This was not out in the country, but Massachusetts, 20 miles north of Boston.

Well, I am happy to learn that at least knifes are one thing California has not tried to restrict out of existence!

Thanks guys
Don
