Out of the Benchmade 806D2, 805, Ambush and Spyderco Military ...... which one would be the most comfortable EDC? I figure they are all probably pretty close in terms of strength and durability to make them statistically equal, at least for my purposes. So it becomes a matter of comfort to carry all day, every day.

805 and 806D2 should be equals as far as carrying goes. You can EDC an 806D2 for months at a time.

Don't have the other knives (the Mili's not lefty-friendly and the Ambush didn't appeal to me yet), but I can tell that the 806D2 is a great pocket-warmer. Glockman99 could probably tell you that the 805 carries well, too.

The only time my 806d2 doesn't leave my right front is when I'm in sweatpants going to bed or sleeping; only then is it replaced by a FRN Endura. It's a little thick to sleep on and heavy on loose fitting sweatpants that want to fall down. Great EDC though:)

As Thom mentioned, the 805/806 carries VERY well for its' size. I carry an 805 as one of my 2 EDC folders, and I don't really notice it, even when I sit down. (But then, I'm the same guy who also carried a Cold Steel Vaguero Grande as an EDC.:D.).

I swear, the Benchmade 805 is a PERFECT folder, and it's my FAVORITE. Do yourself a big favor and get one...You WON'T be sorry!

glockman99,

How's the 805's 440C steel holding up? I would imagine BM does a nice job with 440C so I'm not concerned. But the 806D2 looks pretty sweet as well. But the 805's blade shape looks more utilitarian. And don't even start on the 720, I like bowie style blades, just wish it was a bit bigger. But at 3 1/4" I seriously doubt it's too small. Just don't hear too much about the 720 is all.

Man, how much of a flake can I be? I'm thinkin' 720 looks mighty fine too. Or the 721 with the G-10 scales.

Hmmmm ..... eenie, meenie, minie, moe.

720 is also a great knife. The blade is plenty big for just about anything, and it carries very nicely. I had one for a test drive when a friend asked me to sharpen it for him, I had a hard time giving it back :D

Among those you are considering, I have both 806D2 and Military.

The Military is made for right-handed folks and tip-down carry only. No clip options are provided to change that in the Military design.

For everyday carry and use, I favor the Military. The Military is noticeably lighter and 1/8" narrower than the 806D2. If you carry the Military for a week, I think you'll find the 806D2 almost clumsy by comparison.

For fine point-control cutting, the accomodation of forefinger and thumb is much better executed with the Military.

As a 'righty', I find the ergonometrics of the Military very preferable to the 806D2. Can't help with the other models you mention.

For comfort I don't see how you can beat the Millie, lighter and narrower as mentioned above. Plus 4 beautifully designed inches of CPM S30V steel.
