Hey guys. I have an ESEE 4 I love to
Carry. I enjoy carrying it on my left hip but the handle sticks straight out and makes it noticeable, and it hits things when getting in the car and such. So I started carrying scout style. Much more comfortable but it sticks out also when walking around. What do you recommend?

Inside the waistband, appendix carry. It seems a little awkward at first, but it works pretty well with my Cold Steel Kobun.

How do you set that up on a belt? I have nylon webbing straps I made, but also have paracord. I want to be able to carry concealed, but comfortable and accessible. Which is why I thought scout would be nice. It just sticks out like a sore thumb no matter how high or low I position my pants. Baggy shirts seem to make it worse n

I tend to stick with several cross draw configurations inside the waistband, I generally prefer scout carry, but as im sure your realising. it isnt always the best when in certain situations

Maybe something like the Spyderco G-clip. If you don't want an IWB set up, something like the tek-lok would probably work well. Any mechanism that can keep the sheath close to your body will help with concealment.

One option would be to have a sheath made that is already set up for crossdraw. There are plenty of leather or kydex makers on BF that could fix you up there. Another choice is to carry the 4 in your front pocket secured with paracord to your belt. I do this with a Rodent 3 quite a bit. You can pull the knife and sheath from your pocket when you need it, or just pull the knife from the sheath. A third option is what Bill suggested... the G-clip. Problem is... any belt clip you attach to the sheath is going to push the knife farther away from your body and make it print more when you're trying to conceal it. IWB in a custom sheath is probably the best choice for availability + concealment.

Whatever carry style you choose, I'd suggest keeping the knife in front of you or beside you. I'm not a fan of SOB carry mostly because it limits the availability of my knife to one hand only. If that hand / arm / shoulder is unavailable for some reason, my knife is useless to me.

Near hoizontal is the only way I feel at all comfortable with a fixed blade as an EDC. I prefer cross draw. I carry a much smaller knife, Dozier K42 Personal (2.5" blade) in Bob Dozier's horizontal kydex belt sheath which is very reliable, adequately concealed, and fast. People don't seem to notice a horizontal knife on your belt except for people who are trained to look for such things.

The Spyderco G-clip should probably work with the ESEE kydex, but it does push the knife further out from your body which is the reason I am not so fond of the sheath for the Spyderco Moran, but it is very adjustable.

If I were serious about carrying the ESEE 4 'concealed', I would have a custom shealth fashioned or I would get one of Dozier's models with his horizontal sheath system.
