Not sure this is the place for this thread but guess if it isn't a mod will take care of it. While I am normally a Wrangler or 501 jeans wearer I recently got a pair of Carharts with a pocket on leg for a cell phone. Now I don't worry much about the cell phone thing but find the pocket works very nicely as a carry spot for my large BM Dejavoo. Probably not the thing for everyone and I suppose many of you have utilized carpenter jeans the same way. Guess if it works for you, great; this does for me, while my knuckles don't drag the ground , I do have long arms; just thought I would mention it.

The other topic; I often read posts about people selling knives, usually to buy others and I realized I had never sold a knife; have given a lot away and lost a few but have never sold one; am I alone? Have traded off some guns; trades I usually end up regetting suppose it would be the same with knives. Just some thoughts.

I sewed a large button just above the pocket that my Mora sheath fits right over. Slide it into the pocket and over the button. Ive read somewhere that workmen on Sweden carry their mora's this way and if you look at the sheaths most of them have this feature. --KV

As far as the second part of your post - I was of the same mindset - I hated to sell any of my knives, as there is an attachment with each or you wouldn't have bought it - right?

But after a while - you figure out which ones you favor and which ones you don't.

On my desk in my office at home lay 5-6 knives that I regularly rotate thru as edc's. The remaining stay in storage. There are some that I haven't carried for years, and there is no desire to take them out of the box and put t hem in the rotation.

You also realize that you go thru phases with knife collecting - one year tactical, one year small blades, one year big blades, etc. You may end up with many fixed blades, yet favor one or two.

I have handed down a few to my son, and set aside a few more for when he gets older. The rest - I would rather see it go to someone who wants it and will use it rather than it sitting in a box for many more years to come.

I tend to also use the funds to buy more knives - so the collection stays the same size.

Over the years - you also refine your likes / dislikes, so your purchasing becomes more specific. You look back at some of your early purchases and wonder what you were thinking.

I tend to use that fifth pocket on most jeans, the pocket watch/coins pocket, to hold most knives, since slipjoints tend to be on the smaller side. Ever since I stripped those red scales off my Vic Spartan, the thing is so darn thin.

As for selling my knives, I haven't done that yet. Mostly just gifted them among the members here, since others can get some use out of them. While I like to hoard my knives as much as the next guy, a knife with no use is a knife with no life.

If the knife has a clip, I like to use my back right pocket, even if the pants I am wearing have a cell phone pocket, which some of mine do. I don't normally use the cell phone pocket for anything. I like carrying a cell phone in a pouch on my belt. It is more protected there and lasts longer.

If there is no clip, it goes in my right front pocket.

Watch pocket is for pocket watch. I gave up using a wrist watch unless I am working a construction project and wearing a tool belt.

Faded Glory carpenter jeans have a pocket on the left leg below the hammer loop, a double pocket on the right leg, and a watch pocket big enough for a wallet. Lots of room for knives.

I've given away a few knives, lost a few as well, but I don't sell them. I'm a hoarder. ;)

never sold a knife. or a gun for that matter. i like having alot of something for some reason, even if i dont ever use it lol

I use the leg-pocket in my carpenter jeans to carry my grip. It works well with or without a clip.

I usually wear cargo pants, but I keep my knife in my right pocket. The only thing that ever goes in the cargo pockets is my glasses case.

As to selling a knife. The only knife I've ever sold was a Sebenza. I just didn't like it and knew I could probably make a profit on it.

I've never sold any knives, though I've lost a few over the years.

I've bought knives to give as gifts a number of times. But out of my own collection I've given two, except that one of those turned into a trade. It's the only trade I've ever made.
