and back...

Hi friends, I'm thinking about carry some of my folders in a close travel to Dallas.
Any problem to carry in my checked luggage?

And maybe I buy some knife in the USA... Problems to carry to the EU?

Thanks.

I am currently on vacation in the USA, and brought a few knives with me in the Checked luggage, went fine. So it should also be fine taking them back.

I am American but live in Europe. I travel back to the States at least once a year (last time was in late February). I ALWAYS bring at least one knife in my checked baggage. And ALWAYS come back home to Europe with more than one in my checked baggage (with the dollar in the toilet, visiting the States is like an extra Christmas :D ). And I have never ever had any problems whatsoever.

I heard a lot of stories about people losing a knife from out of checked luggage. If you have something like a spyderco, you can run a little lock cable through the blade hole and attach it to the inside of the suitcase.

I wouldn't travel with something you're not willing to lose.

Back in 83 (or was it 84?), I went through Israel and England, and back to the US. Carried a Gerber Bolt Action folder in my pocket the whole time. Never set off the metal detectors.

Metal detectors are a whole lot better nowadays.
