Carry laws on military basses for a civilian

what are the restrictions on carry on a military base in you are a civilian?

for firearms, i imagine pretty restrictive, since most active duty personnel dont carry.

for knives, it would fall under federal law, or the base restrictions, or both. local and state laws may also have jurisdiction as well.

in other words, not sure. call the individual base you are intending to visit and ask the mp's.

Federal law limits length to 2.5". However, base commanders have wide discretion and may prohibit them. I'm not sure if they can waive the 2.5" rule though.

hmm that sucks, definatly broke that like 100 times. do you know if other than the length restriction there are any other things (folders vs sheath, assisted opening etc). i know autos are not allowed but other than that does it fall to base command?

You can't cary concealed on a US military base, you also can't cary open. Call ahead to the post, and see if you can even take a firearm on post, some you can't. On every post I've ever been or stationed on, if you came on post with a firearm, you had to tell the gate guard, some posts then require paperwork.

Good luck.

So what you are saying is that even though I can buy and Endura in Clothing Sales, I cannot carry it because its way over 2.5? Something tells me that that isnt correct...

I just mentioned the part of the law I'm familiar with. I believe that there may be exceptions for job related needs. Also, active duty personnel probably fall under different rules. Again, I suspect that the commander has wide discretion to restrict what's carried on base.
