Hey Guys---What's the best, most comfortable way to carry a Waki? I know there are a lot of variables--like w/ or w/o backpack;type of terrain,etc....--.Which would work best in the most situations? Thanks for your help in advance. I do know there are a lot of easier and more versatile blades to carry, but just giving you something to think about and me to learn from. I need something.

i'm thinking on your back with the handle sticking up. this seem's the most comfy way to carry it and ease of deployment.

The Japanese felt the best way to carry a Wakisashi was edge up sash style

They rode horses and did alot of walking so ya can't say they where not active

You just need the right sheath/saya

I would go with the across the back carry if you weren't wearing a backpack, or maybe attached to the side of the backpack through tecklocks / whatever if you were.

The sash style isn't bad but isn't nearly as comfortable as everyone thinks, it tends to require a hand constantly kept on the hilt to keep the sword from tangling up in your legs while moving. Probably not a bad way to carry it in feudal Japan but maybe not so practical in hiking.

When men really did carry large blades and there primary mode of transportation was walking and rideing they carried them is sash not hanging down slapping along there legs

Ninja style on your back:D will work also

Yeah It was more like angled kinda almost across the back..I've tried it before but honestly the weight of the blade always tended to pull it down towards my legs, I just didn't like it

But yes if you want to be the ultra assassin, ninja style is the only way to go. Make sure the coating is black too, so nobody will see you coming

HIIIYAHHHHHHHH

I find the Waki rides comfortably on my back with the handle going up and a little to the right. I just use paracord to tie the kydex sheath to the back of a Fighting Load Carrier (FLC). The Waki doesn't move around much, even when running, so it doesn't annoy me the way it would if I carried it another way.

This is interesting but you lost me on Baldric Carry and fighting load carrier ???

Either cross draw on the belt, or baldric, both weak side. Make sure the sheath has plenty of carry options as carrying one style for very long gets old really fast. :D

Weakside and x-draw I understand. Is Baldric what Conan is using in Tyrkon Lawson's post above??

Nope, the baldric makes the blade rest kinda at the hip. Though I suppose with the right baldric you could convert it to carry like Mr. Conan's.
