I'm getting an ash 1. How are you guys carrying it? Can you show me pictures of how you carry the knife and what you do or don't like about it. I'm thinking I would attach it to the outside of my pack or horizontal on my belt in back. I never held one in my hand so don't know how it will feel. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Jon

I use a Chuddy Bear drop loop sheath for strictly side vertical carry. If you requested a double X back to it, you could also have the sheath mounted on any pack straps (vertically or horizontally) , or even horizontally on your belt (in the back if that's where you prefer). You are going to love the feel of this knife. I find that I keep shifting from a chopping hold to a jabbing hold... I just can't help it.

I really like the ASH, especially the LE(possibly my fav busse). I use a spec ops small sheath to hold mine. I like how low it rides, but it does take some work to fit it into the plastic insert. There are plenty of threads on how to do it if your interested in that.

Kydex by Okuden with large tek lok. Straight up if being worn on belt...hiking\etc. Or attached to pack web molle, in just about any position.

Tried the horizontal on side carry, did not work for me.

good luck

Well, any type of sheath would work of course, it all depends on where and when you want to carry. Unfortunately, carrying an ASH-1 is not always that inconspicuous, it is a large knife.

I carry mine in a Rainwalker leather sheath, but attached to a PSK type bag. This whole setup rides on the backpack child carrier I use to carry my 3 year old daughter when we go hiking. In this way, it's relatively out of sight, but can still be reached easily enough.

Here are some pics:

Hope it helps.

I carry my HOGASH-1 in my "man-purse" (or phag bag). It aint ghey if it's fulla knives! I'm a city boy these days, so belt-carry is a no-go. I took a peek in there and I have an AD, a Warden, a Cultie and an ASH-1 with me today. Good thing there are no metal detectors around! I just can't settle on which knife I want every day, so I just carry a bunch. Oh, and there's a Koster Bushcraft in there too. And a Vic Champ. But that's it.

Yes, I have a problem.

I carry mine on my left side(right hand draw) basically straight up with a kydex sheath using a Tek Lok. I removed the slide adjuster from the Tek Lok so the sheath has a little slop to it and doesn't jam my side or make drawing/resheathing too dificult.

At work, I carry my ASH's both CG and or LE/Skinny, one at a time of course, depending on my mood that day, concealed under my vest, left side cross draw, vertical, bottom butt forward, in either my Buy Brown or Mashed Cat Kydex. Fast and terrific. Also use my Chuddy Bear drop loops right side rear.

I have two ASH-1's and for each I purchased a Rowe's Leather Quad Position, one is natural Tan and the other Black. Very nice and different than most, you can see one at Rowe's web site.

Okuden drop loop kydex. I also have some tec-loks if I want to go high-ride. I'm planning to order a couple kydex-fusion sheaths from dwayne, hopefully in the not-too-far-away future.

I have Okuden, Chuddy Bear and Buy Brown sheaths. They're all great quality and functional. My ASH-1 Hog Edition resides in a Buy Brown flame sheath.
