Hello Buck aficionados. I confess that I wandered from my Buck knives for a season. I have been carrying some high end slipjoints the last couple of years. Finely made knives, but I am tired of fighting rust every day. Two days ago when I got ready for the day I reached into my drawer for a knife to put in my pocket and my hand brushed against an old 110. I pulled it out and thought, " it sure has been a while since I had one of these on my belt." I have been carrying a 110 the last two days and forgot what a fantastic knife this is. A true classic. It feels great in my hand and cuts like the Dickens. I think I will be selling some fancy knives and staying in Buckland . Thanks for having me back.

Welcome back to Buck.

I love me some nice patinad carbon steel, but Buck just does their stainless so well.
It works extremely well and they're blade finish is great.
I'm not sure I'd love Buck as much as I do if they were polishing 90% of their blades like Case does their true sharp.

To date I have gifted probably 15 Buck knives so far and I'm sure the very next knife I gift will likely be a Buck knife, everyone knows the Buck name and they make something for everyone just about so they're always appreciated.

yep cpm154 is one of my favorite Buck steels for a user. takes a very sharp edge and fast.
holds it better than their 440c, in my experiences with it. I wouldn't be upset if Buck made more models in it, or as an upgrade option in the custom shop.

Jbmonkey, or anyone else who might know, I am trying to remember from years back when I collected, have them made any besides the bass pro model with cpm-154? I don't think I have encountered any

skblades did some runs of them. I have one or two of them. 110s runs i mean.

the alaskan guide ones cabelas were s30v and bass pro version back then were the cpm154 with the coatings before they merged or so I thought. yeah no one else had those versions like that that I know of.

I don’t think it’s mutually exclusive to carry Buck Knives for heavy duty and another brand for a pocketknife. I far and away prefer Buck Knives for heavy duty working knives (110 and 100 series) but usually carry a Case for a pocketknife. Buck has never made a lot of pocketknife models while other brands specialize in them but don’t do working knives well at all. Buck 110 with a D2 blade. OH

Old hunter, you make an excellent point. It is nice to have a small Jack knife in my pocket for small everyday tasks. Especially in the workplace around non knife people.

I can’t recall a place in the PNW that would think twice about a pocket knife. It wasn’t that long ago you would see gum racks with rifles in the back window of trucks at high schools. Pocket knives are like coffee cups. Non offensive. But as calif and Seattle people keeping hoarding into this area I’m sure that will change

My favorite carry is a 110 in the belt sheath.

I'll frequently carry a fixed blade as big as a 105 outside of work.
With open carry laws on firearms as they are here in MI, I don't sweat folks giving me any grief about a knife.
..... never have had a problem. You just gotta be smart and respectful.

...large fixed blades at work can get in the way of fall protection...

I prefer Buck based simply on the quality/ value of the product.

I've only carried a 110 (or Old Timer 6OT or 7OT) pretty much every day snce 1968.
(not the same ones. the ones I had back then are long gone.)
They get a rest once in a while when I carry a 2 blade slipjoint folding hunter.
Whatever is on the belt is joined by two or three ... maybe four slipjoints in my pocket.

Thanks for the welcome. I have a few bucks. The one on my belt today is the Bass Pro special with rosewood handles and the coated Cpm-154 blade. That steel gets crazy sharp. I will take a new picture of it later.
I have one, too. Cuts like a screaming banshee.
