The following should come as no surprise nor as a shock to anyone. My signature says it all! I just found a Carson model 4 that is set up exactly like I wanted one to be. Les got it in today and is shipping it out tomorrow and I will have my grubby hands on it by Friday.....I would say this is the makings of a plan!.....and I like it when you know what happens:D

The knife: This is a large model 4. Blade steel is 154CM, and while this is not one of the newer super steels it is still a great steel when done right. I've not had any problems with 154CM so I am happy. Clip is mounted at the tip top of the bolster exactly where I want it to be. The only problem I have with the LDC-5 Smith is that it allows about 1/2" of the bolster to show. The Carson also has ti bolsters and brown micarta scales. I have not seen brown micarta so anyone who has one and can post a picture I would greatly appreciate it. Lastly it is a clip point which I consider to be the best all around user and what I was looking for.

Thanks to Les for always having what I want! I sent one email today and he responds with exactly what I want and in stock that day to boot! Great servicem from a very fine gentleman!

:D :D :D yeah you guessed it........the Carson is here! This is everything a model 4 is. Plus some things I've never seen on a model 4. The clip is different from any I have seen on a Carson folder. There are two screws that hold the clip on and they are mounted one over the top of the other. There is a big screw on bottom with a small screw on top. The pivot bolt is also different as it has a screwdriver slot instead of a torx opener.
Whatever the case on these two differences I like them. The handle material is a dark brown micarta that looks really really neat. The blade is 4" of 154CM and a clip point exactly like I wanted. The finish is standard Carson, as is the smooth action, bank vault lockup, and hair popping blade.

Just not a whole lot more I can add as most everybody familar with Kit Carson knows what a fine and superb piece the model 4 is. When a model like this has been around so long and has been perfected over the years you can sorta get used to it. It is still a thrill for me to unzip the case and pull out the model 4! It doesn't matter how many I have had in the past.

Lucky you Art.., congrats.., great knife...

I've picked up 4 Carson's in the past 2-3 weeks or so. Two large M4s and 2 stellite M16s. The knives are amazing. The fit and finish are superb on all the pieces. They are all very functionally sound. They all lock up incredibly solid. I am very pleased with my purchases. The only thing that sucks about these knives, is now I'm spoiled to customs. Picking up a factory knife just isn't the same after this. Man I love be a knifaholic.

Congrats Art! Carson's are the best. The sound of the blade locking up is amazing. Wonder what a toggle lock sounds like?:D :p
I will know soon!
