I was backpacking in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness a few weeks ago and came across an interesting site. We were cutting across a hillside coming down from poison lake trying to save 9 miles from our hike out. We were deciding whether to cut across a creek or continue in the direction we were going. One of my buddies yelled to come check out this area. I've always wanted to come across a site like this while backpacking. It looked like an old logging/ trapping site. There was old axe heads, wedges, broken pots and pans, nails, pieces of a stove. I was so busy trying to look for an old knife or rifle that I failed to get many pictures of the area. I'm kicking myself for not throwing an axe head in my pack but they were at least 10 pounds and that sounded like death after a long weekend of hiking. I did manage to get a few shots and brought back an old file and some nails. I wish I had a GPS to mark the location and go back one day to bring home some of the axe heads.
On to the pictures,
File and nails,
Any idea what this could be?
Here you can see two axeheads at the top of the picture,
And the winkler that tagged along,
