I am going to order a Carson M16 with large blade. Does anyone who has a Carson have any suggestions as to which blade style, steel and whether to get the flipper? Thanks.

I've got the large custom M16 with a flipper in S90V. Great all around knife for hard use. My blade is a spearpoint with a single hollow grind and no swedge. Most of the M16's you see out there have the swedge grind on it but I'm not too fond of swedges so I had Kit to put a reular grind on there without a swedge. Kit can use any blade steel you would like - S90V, S60V, ATS-34, 440C, Stellite, or damascus. If this knife is going to be a user, I'd got for either of the CPM steels or Stellite. To flipper or not to flipper? First off, the flippered versions cost more than the non-flippered ones because he has to hand fit the thumbstuds to the scales (as the studs are used for a positive blade stop when the knife is open) But if you like instantaneous opening, then the extra cost is worth it. I had the pleasure of visiting Kit for a few days last april to watch my M16 come together. Take a look at these pictures : http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=55151&a=4790097 to see how he puts together an M16, starting from sheets of 6AL/4V titanium and S90V steel. Hope this info helps.

I'd go with Kit's clip point done in Stellite. No swedge and no flipper (but the flipper on Kit's knives are sweet!).

Thanks for the little show Dex!
