Took a bit of plotting and cajoling (i.e. begging... and my knees still hurt) to get this one. Didn't hurt to be related to the previous owner of this beaut. :)

This Carson M16 has an OAL of 9&7/8" and a blade length of 4.25". The stellite blade is 3/16" thick. I am assuming this is an older model M16 since most of new ones sport larger drilled center holes in the handle.

The knife is very comfortable in the hand, has smoooooth pivot and the linerlock is perfectly and solidly resting fully on the left side of blade tang. Yeah, no problem with the "spine whack" test.

Taking this the Cape for salt water fishing this weekend. Hopefully, a fish worthy of this knife will commit suicide on my hook. :)

Wow... The pics came out WAY, way bigger than I intended. Anyway to fix that?

Great knife, Sing.

As the owner of a couple of Model 16's myself,(one in Stellite), I feel quite certain that this will be one of your favorites for a long time to come.

Beauty! Let us know how it performs. [Fulsome praise expected :)]

I have a small M16 coming in today or tomorrow and a large one at the end of the week. I just love these knives. You will enjoy that one :D

I just got a large M18 to go with my large M4 clip point.

Gotta love those Carsons!

Lot of Carson/M16 fans. Well, I can see why. It's a well made knife and comfortable to handle. The stellite blade just puts it over the top for me.

Die stripers, die!!!! (EVIL laughter)

That is a great looking knife! But where is the flipper? In my mind -- such as it is -- I tend to think of the flipper as the defining characteristic of the M16. Probably wouldn't think so if I had that beauty. I really like the deeper finger cutaway compared to my CRKT model.

Does it feel really good in the hand? Looks like it would.

Bugs, I imagine the Model 16 Flippers are in the minority when it comes to Model 16's. It took me a long time to talk a forumite into selling me this one. If you see one, you had better grab it cause they are slick.

Bugs,
Lemme give it a shot at explaining.
I had been building the M16 for awhile before I redesigned it and added the flipper, like on my Toggle Lock, for the CRKT version. I call my flippered version the M16A1 (or M16 Flipper). We decided the CRKT one should be called the M16. If I did a redesign on it, we would probably call it the M16A1 but with the CRKT M18 (flipper) coming out soon, I doubt if there will be an A1.
I guess the prototypes should have been called the XM16:)

sing,

If you can't find "a fish worthy of this knife [that] will commit suicide on [your] hook.", look me up. I'm sure I can line up a few volunteers for you...

Michael
