Ok this knife has been a long time comming. First it took me a long time to get a 1/4 inch thick bar of Stellite 6K(you don't want to know how much a 1/4 inch thick 13.5 inch long, 2.5 inch wide bar of Stellite 6K costs). Sent the Bar of to Carson with my design of how I wanted this very large blade to look. I then had to leave on business for a long period of time and ended moving from coast to coast in the span of a year, so I lost touch with Carson and he must have sent plans to the wife, but who knows what happened. I really didn't care what Carsons Interpretation of my design was since I figured that it could only get better. Well I was right. The resulting knife is much different than the blade I designed and I'm actually glad he did what he did. The knife is simply awesome. Fit and finish are excellent and the blade is extremely sharp.

Great Job Kit. You've got mail

How about some pic's to share when you get a chance.

Geez, Cobalt. I'm with Bronc. There oughta be a law against that kind of post. Enough to give a man the DT's.

Alright guys, as soon as I can get some pics loaded up, I'll email them to whoever can post them for me, since I know not how to do that.

Cobalt, I'm sure everyone would love to see this one. Email me the pic and I'll post it for you.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow and mail them to Big Tex to post them on the board.

I'll also try to add some pics of other custom knives for all to see on another thread.

Sorry to make you wait guys.

Can any of you imagine the days long past without the benefit of the internet. None of this would be possible.

Dennis--

You didn't really think we were going to forget about this thread, did you?

Ok, I got the pics sent to me but can't open them because @#$@# AOL converted them into zip files. Will, I will send them to you and tell me if you can open them.

Cobalt--Okay, I've opened them and sent you a list of the contents by private email. Let me know which pics you want sent where, and I'll be happy to.

Unfortunately, I only know how to post from a photopoint account, which is an involved process which requires posting the photos to my account. I'd suggest taking Jim "Big Tex" up on his offer above, as he's a pro at this stuff.

Let me know what I can do. --Will

I sent along Cobalt's pics of the Carson U2, a big drop-point, and also of his Greg Lightfoot Predator, a big tanto. I think Cobalt intends to post a thread on the Predator, also, so since I had these sorted out I thought I'd send both along.

Thanks--Will

Taz has the images posted below, guys. Just keep scrolling down 'till you get there.

Works for me!

Okay, now I want one!!!

Hey, Cobalt--how about some specs on that big mother? Blade length, OAL, handle material, weight?

Looks like one helluva chopper with a fine enough point to actually be useful. Man, that is one fine blade!

Congrats!!!

Sorry for not getting on earlier, but my phone line was cut by verizon when they were digging to install another telephone line. Can you say, DUH.

Anyway, the knife is 13.5 inch OAL with a 7.75 inch blade, 1/4 inch thick. The bar stock weighed 2 lbs and thanks to Kit, most of it is still there.

It took me some doing to get .25 inch Stellite 6K stock, since it is not normally made unless a big order for it is done. I had ordered two pieces, one for me and another for forumite.

You got to wonder, however, if the Stellite is worth the cost. Due to the cost of the Stellite, this knife ended up costing 2.5 times what a regular U-2 costs. Thats alot of money, but the material should be worth it.

This knife should be able to take some serious abuse considering it's overall thickness.

I have two other blades one which is Stellite 6K lightfoot predator and the other which is a Talonite Lightfoot pitbull.

The initial difference that I notice with the Stellite and Talonite is that the edge on the stellite feels more gritty and seems like it would cut better. All knives are equally sharp and will shave hair easily. The talonite just feels like if it was too polished. Possibly because it has so much less carbon in it. Still a great material.
