This "Carter 2quared" looks like an interesting new knife from Ontario Knives and Robert Carter, the same pair that brought us the "Carter Prime" which was a real love-hate affair for many.

Here's what I notice, based on photos:
  • nice blackwash on the blade
  • subtle tasteful typography, unlike the Prime
  • interesting hollow ground sheepsfoot harpoon, looks functional
  • interesting handle and clip shapes, high points for style (ergos?)
  • no lanyard hole, no alternative clip mounting holes
  • nice looking machining marks on handle
  • button-head pivot bolt looks like it's sitting on the surface of the show side scale, not in a recess, which looks cheap... hope I'm wrong on this
  • fitting of the backspacer looks plain awful - ouch! hope they fix this
  • no jimping anywhere, including the flipper tab
  • another clip with an acute point at the tip... sigh...
  • 6.2 ounces, ball bearings, made in Taiwan
Of course I'm judging from photos, and who knows if these are photos of a prototype or whatever. Looking forward to a review from someone who gets it in-hand.

In any event it's nice to see Robert Carter out with a new collab.

That looks awesome IMO. I can't tell from the pics though, are the scales g10 or machined titanium with some texture to them?

I like the knife, but what is it with everyone adding the ridiculous fin to the spine of the blade? It severs only to add weight and width to the knife. IMO, the aesthetics look better without it too. If I get one, the first thing I will do is remove that stupid fin.

I plan on getting one of these soon.

I have become a big fan of Wharncliffe and Sheepsfoot blades.

I noticed that it doesn't have a removable steel insert on the lockbar too.
