Very nice piece of work! Had never really taken much notice of South American blade styles, but over the last couple of years, such attractive work as this has really begun to catch my eye!
Did you also make a sheath for that? Some of the sheathes I've seen also really set the whole package off!
Thanks for posting!!!

Horacio,
Striking Damascus.
Nice carving and spacer treatment on the handle.
Thanks.

Hi Horacio,

Welcome to Bladeforums. There are a LOT of astute collectors in this forum also, and your work will be much appreciated.

Guys, over on the KnifeNetwork forums Horacio posted a step-by-step process of how he designed and carved all the fittings on this handle. Watching the sequence unfold was mezmerizing.

He was influenced by Antonio Montejano on initial drawings for the scrolls and applied it to his own piece.

I have been paying attention to Horacio for some time now, as he does these incredible wrapped rawhide handles (Called 'tientos') on traditional gaucho knives. As traditional to Argentina as a Bowie is to the USA.

I expect you will see more of his work soon enough. I am starting to work with him on a piece which will include both of his skills.

Here are a couple of samples from his website:

Horacio:
The blade was done by my friend Marcial Dos Santos in W1 and L6 with 220 layers.

He showed me some photos of him forging his own billets. Knowing his talents I give him a few weeks to get up to speed on grinding and forging...! :D

Nice to expand our horizons again. :D

Thank you very much for your comments and special thanks to Coop for such a compliment to my work.;)

So, as Coop suggested let me show you the process in this forum.

I hope you like it.
Regards,
Horacio

Yes, I do the sheathes but I haven't made my mind yet about doing a carved sheath or a rawhide sheath like this...
