Hi All,
just finished carving this new pot hanger. It's two sticks with identical cutouts. They are held together by a wooden peg which is slotted through the hole in between them.

Hard to describe, so here's a picture

It was surprisingly hard to get the bevels to line up so that this little gadget would hold together.
A good carving project for practicing precision cuts, as it took me a few tries!
Idea shamelessly stolen from Ray Mears.

Very cool. I've always just used a single stick with a branch end sticking out, then carved a notch. How tricky was the peg to fit?

Looks good.
My only thought is; do you really need to carve a secondary peg couldn't you have just carved two interlocking pieces? (see illustration below)

That's pretty cool dude. I checked out some of your other photos too. Awesome spoons and shelters! Thanks.

Thanks all!

Bare Rib, that design would be much simpler to make, but any sidewards movement could dislodge one piece from the other. Certainly less work though. I'll give that a go next.
Whilst my pot hanger is totally overbuilt and uneccessary, it is fun to finally get right!

Nice handiwork would make a nice tutorial if you took enough pictures-didja??

Well..........

This one's gonna take me a few tries to get right:o.

My first attempt was ugly ! Just plain ugly !

It would probably work , but man was it ugly !

I should take a picture of it , but it was just too.........ugly !

I'll keep trying though, for I am now on a mission;)

Took me a few tries. You end up cutting a little off each end to try to get them to lock together snugly. Suddenly both sticks are much shorter :)
