Well, I decided to test one knife, and one thing lead to another.

In terms of control and efficiency, the best were my scandis (Mora, Cold Steel Peace Makers). No surprise there. My Cold Steel Prolite did surprisingly well, as did the Kudu. Decent performances were put in by my Svord Peasant, Victorinox Farmer, and Cold Steel Spike. Not so great were my MI220 Glock knockoff, Old Hickory mod, and Svord mini Peasant (lower grade steel). The Bird and Game simply didn't have enough grip to make controlled pressure cuts.

If you want, grab a piece of scrap wood and go to town. I'd love to know what you found.

Thanks for the tests, and it's results!
If you want a challenge bt your campfire: try whittling a length of wooden chain. 😁👍

Very nice! I did not get my Buck 444 out for this, so I am glad you included yours. Looks like it did great!

Thanks! That Buck 422 can do some good work. I spend a lot of time praising the Buck 110/112/etc., but they really are superior cutting tools. I've practiced making curls and feather sticks with a variety of knives, but I get my best results with thin hollow grinds and thin convex grinds. I spent a lot of time practicing in 2019 and 2020 as part of my fire building practice. One stick fires are a challenge that helps you build a variety of skills. I learned a lot and got significant inspiration from the crew at bushcraftusa. Some of those guys have mad, crazy feather sticking skills!

Rhino,
VERY pretty, and too Kool for School!

Thank you, sir! I've recycled the pics a few times. I need to do some more practicing soon.
