ESEE is having a contest where you need to carve something with a machete but I'm stumped at what to carve. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8813850&posted=1#post8813850
I don't want to do anything where I have to burn an indentation. I'm just not living in a place where that's feasable plus if I were to make a spoon, I'd just carve it with a small knife similar to a bow drill hearth. Any ideas for a project? Keep in mind I'm a noob to carving.

This spring, I camped out on a spring fed mountain stream and carved a viking longboat to float. I watched it drop a good 500 feet down the saddle it ran through, just something to do on a lazy afternoon. I've tried totum poles but always manage to screw up with 4-5 hours invested in it.

Payette doesn't use a knife, he has build in laser eyes to carve wood.:jerkit:

Norris doesn't have laser eyes silly. It's all attitude. :D

I was thinking about just doing an assortment of tools you would need at camp. Tent pegs, pot hanger, tongs, chop sticks and of course the weenie roaster.

Im using my 14in Condor alot on the canoe paddle im carving. Use it like a draw knife.

Maybe a selfbow?
