Yesterday I decided to carve up some drift wood to make myself a walking stick. Never really use em but I just enjoy carving up some wood. Something I have done since being a youngin. Anyways, I was carving up the stick at the top edge to round it off. No real problems doing this.It starts getting a little tougher so I decide to work up the side a little and would come back to the top later.

So I start working up the side, and am like WTF, my knife seems really dull. I look at the edge and it is glistening like it has been hitting something real hard. Half the lower edge it torn up to hell and there is a giant burr of flattened metal going in both directions. As soon as I saw this I knew...I had been carving up a rock. Drift wood sometimes like to pick up rocks on its adventure in the sea and this one had a 1/4 inch rock wedged deep in the wood. I didnt even notice it and carved a big chunk out of it :D. Lucky for me, I was using my busse because I got no chipping.

So after about an hour of sharpening I was able to get her back to hair popping sharp. Gotta love a busse knife. I was using a BATAC--its a real fun knife to use. A little big for carving, but it is still fun:)

Sadly I didnt take any pics of the damaged blade. I just have it all nice and sharpened...I can throw a few of the sharpened blade if you like haha.
