Carving Set

I would like to get the Randall Carving set, does anyone know if they will make the knife with a full tang? Would like to have it with a full tang and maple(burl) handle. Has anyone seen a set like this and how did it look?

According to the RMK catalog the carving knife comes stock with the stag handle. It does not say that that is the only handle available so I am assuming that you can get other materials put on the knife. I will check that out and get back to you sometime later next week. Mpale burl is not one of the woods supplied by the shop so if you want that you will have to supply the wood block. They do have the birdseye maple.
Also that knife is not available in a full tang. Only in a cut down tang. Thanks Greg

If you are asking for a full tang blade similar to the model 10, where the tang is the full width of the handle and the handle is two slabs drilled and pinned on the tang the answer is no. If you want a tang going all the way through the handle and ending in a buttcap similar to a model #1 the answer is maybe.

We have made the model 6-9 handles with just about any material we offer. We have also recently made some with a standard hilt and crows beak butt cap, ostenably as a fillet knife.lol I don't know if we are offering this as an option across the board though because we made them for a dealer. I definitely know you can get birdseye maple and you can send in your own wood or other material and we will mount it.

Got the info I needed to complete the answer to your question from Gary at the RMK shop, but it looks like Dwight got to it first. As per Gary you can get the carving set with almost any material in the handle including customer supplied material. Just be sure the supplied material meets the required specs. Thanks, Greg
