Cas Iberia "Moran"

I had a thread last month regarding the CAS/Lake folder, MSRP $500.

My guess would be that considering the detail in the Moran knife the price would be comparable (i.e. very expensive). I have no first hand knowledge of CAS knives, but I compliment them on these collaborations. I won't be buying one though. So, the ABS Master Smith I did order is the Camillus/Fisk Bowie. I know they're still working out the details of this knife, but if Jerry Fisk is putting his name on it I know it will be a winner, and at a price point that it'll be hard to say no to.

Thanks Phil $500 seems a bit steep for a factory folder from Spain. Didn't Fisk design the Becker CampKnife years ago?

I don't know if the CAS Iberia Moran is made in Spain, but my experience with CAS Iberia was with the Citizen folder. It's basically a Ray Appleton ripoff made in China. The lockup was solid with no blade play, but the 440C blade was very dull and the sheath was crappy. The only other CAS Iberia knife I've seen is the Starship also made in China.

CAS Iberia does import swords and several Spanish knives like Aitor and Muela to the U.S. as well as Chinese made swords.

el cid,
Be careful not to leave that Citizen knife in your car's glove box for a week. I did and it de-tempered the spring in the button-lock mechanism on mine. Now it just flops open and closed depending on which way gravity pulls it.:(

I actually saw the prototype at the Blade Show. It is damascus steel (Swedish Powdered steel and I'm not sure what else.) It is produced by the Hanwei Factory in China (Paul Chin). It looked and felt good. Supposedly, Bill Moran commented that it was a better damascus pattern than he could do

It is to be a seriously limited edition. Stores will be given preference by how much they have spent with CAS Iberia. It won't be out until 2002.

Wish I knew more,
Pam

Damasteel is of PMC27 which is powder steel version of Sandvik 12C27 and RWL-34 which is powder steel version of ats-34. As powder steels these are both cleaner and more homogeneous than the normal versions. Good stuff.

Still 500$ for custom collaboratio? One can get genuine custom fixed blade made of this same steel with 500$.
