Got a catalog in the mail the other day and saw the 032 pattern Mini Moose. it looks good.........and with the autumn bone I'm really interested.

I think the autumn bone is new for case......or at least its the first time ive seen it.

Does anyone have a case 032 mini moose? or any experiences with this version of their autumn bone?

I love the 032 patter. Currently my two favorite knives are the 032 Small Texas Jack and 032 Medium Stockman.

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

If you like the medium stockman, I'm sure you'll like the mini moose. I have a mammoth ivory mini moose, but have only displayed it.

Case has done Autumn Bone before, in different jigging patterns. The only thing to watch out for is that since it is a multi-colored dyed bone, there can be significant variations in appearance between knives and even on opposite sides of the same knife, at least based on images I have seen of previous incarnations of the Autumn bone.

Done well, it is very beautiful. Since the specific knife you are referring to is an SFO/Exclusive by a single large Case dealer, you're kind of stuck with their pics of it. However, Case does have some slanted bolster Autumn Bone in general production so it might be useful to search for images of the actual knives to get a feel for the color first, if that's important to you.

I don't own any Mini Moose patterns myself but I am fond of the square bolster serpentine 032 frame for the jack and stockman patterns, so I'm sure it would be a fine pattern.

Edit: GPknives is a BF Member dealer so it's OK for me to link there. They also use actual photos of the knives rather than stock images. You can see just from the models they are showing, how the colors can vary:

Further edit - if you search on one of the big auction sites for "Case Autumn Bone" you will see what I am talking about, since many of them show actual photos.

There are some bone handles that Case executes well on, and others that they don't. Autumn bone is one of those were I want to see both sides of the actual knife I am going to get.
