Hi, has anyone on here used a case knife with 154cm, if so how well do they hold an edge say compared to benchmade 154cm. I have looked and can't find anywhere that tells how hard case heat treats their 154cm.
I have and use a Case/Bose Norfolk and a Benchmade 556 Mini Grip, both with 154CM steel. I have never done a side by side comparison but in my opinion Case's 154CM is at least as good as Benchmade's 154CM. The blade grinds on the Norfolk are of course, quite a bit thinner than the Mini Grip.
Based on my experience with my Norfolk I can't imagine you being disappointed with Case's 154CM. I'm not sure what other knives Case offers in 154CM but I am extremely happy with it on my Norfolk.
Tony Bose is a member here. I'll bet he would know the hardness of Case's 154CM. You might consider shooting him a PM.
Hey, thanks for the reply. I have a Case stockman with 154cm that i was thinking about making my edc. I guess i will get it out and see how well it holds up.
Is this one of the collaborations? I didn't know that the regular line up was available in 154CM? I have two collaborations, both Bose, one a Tribal Spear and one a coffin jack, and both hold an edge pretty well. I'm not really putting them through their paces though...
No, it is part of a limited edition run they did in 2007 with 154cm. They made a stockman, trapper, mini trapper, and barlow that i know of maybe more i am not sure. I have the trapper, mini trapper and stockman. I am going to edc the stockman and did not know how good the steel was.
I wish I'd known about those limited edition Case knives in 154CM.
I've got a couple of Cases with 154CM blades and I'm quite happy with their performance. The heat treatment seems to be spot on, and the combination of good steel and good blade geometry works nicely.
