Case 2023 vault release (small congress)

As said by more than one person at the daily Monday through Friday on school days between runs double-deck Pinochle Tournament, 1976 to 1980, at ARA Transportation, San Bernardino, CA. 08:30 to 14:45. Quote:
"Who dealt this foot?!? ... Pass."
(yes. we did not play $0.01 (or more) a point.)

I just saw a video about it and Case is saying there will be some in Carbon Steel. Some 2 blade and some 4 blade, so it appears there will be a few variations.
I will probably pick up one in carbon also. I really wish it would have been the Jr. Scout, but this one is pretty cool
I think two of the two-blade models, Gray and Red Jigged Bone, will be CS. I may get the Red to go with my Red Swell Center Jack. Life is full of decisions. Lol

I dig the pattern, and will likely pick one up at some point if the right combo strikes me. I like the Smooth Antique Bone but would really prefer something in Carbon Steel. We'll see what they come out with. Hell, I didn't pick up the Swell Center Jack until December when SM came out with an exclusive in Sunset Autumn Bone/ Carbon Steel

I was hoping for something a little bigger than that, 3 1/4th is a little small personally.
Tend to agree especially a pattern like the Congress needs a bigger frame with all those blades and the Longpulls on these small blades just look clumsy. A 2 blade model in Chestnut or Amber Bone carbon would be a nice small carry mind.

You're right! Although if I remember correctly the Swell Center Jack got more options than they started with, so we may get something the middle of the year too.

The blades on these are rather thin and flexy. 4 blades on 4 springs.👎
Four springs? It seems like that would make for a thick knife unless the springs are very thin. I suppose that means the two blade versions are on two springs...I can't find any pictures showing a top view.
Might have to stick with my old, single spring version.

The older medium Case congresses had 2 blades per spring, with a spacer down the middle (catch bits on the 2 blade). Blades weren't particularly thick on these either, but they didn't feel too thin for anything you could reasonably see yourself doing with the knife. When they brought back 052 pattern and introduced the 68 they switched to one spring per blade. If my memory serves, the newer 64052 was very marginally thicker despite having 4 springs, due to the thinner blades (and no spacer). IIRC it was noticeably heavier, but on a small knife it wasn't much and probably only noticeable with the older one to directly compare it to (or with a scale).

Unless the blades on the 68 are even thinner, they might feel better in use than the blades of the newer 64052 since they're shorter, and thus have less flex. With such a small knife I doubt anyone's gonna be doing a lot of whittling with one, much less using it for even heavier duty work.

Seems the first batch of small Congress are out. I picked up a bone stag four blade from SMKW. Can’t wait. First case knife in a long time.

Was excited for this until I saw the blades... dunno why the main sheepsfoot and spear blade look so goofy and wonky. Same thing they did to the mini gunstock pattern, went from a beautiful spearpoint to some weird sort-of spear point.

Apparently I was wrong. At least with SMKW. Thier website was glitchy. Depending how you search for them it’ll either say “add to cart” or “pre-order”. I reached out and they are still under “pre-order”. At least through them. Other sites seems to have them in stock.
