I wonder what killed this stuff. I used to work in a cabinet factory when I was in college and the seconds were always put aside and sold to employees in an auction at the end of the year - usually ended up being about half price.
Same used to happen with guitars from some of the famous makers - they'd be stamped and sold. Now they're destroyed. Kind of thought that it was either data mining and realizing the employees would pay more than the cost of seconds, or it was an issue of not wanting seconds circulating with pictures showing up on the internet.
