Guys - saw these mentioned in another thread and didn't want to hijack it. But do want to know what anyone who has one of these thinks of them. I like the 47 size and love CV - questions about the quality/appearance and thickness of the stag is what's kept me from pulling the trigger. Any photos would be appreciated - especially showing thickness of the handles. Thanks.

I really like the 47 size and ordered one of the Rancher CV, stag was very colorful and I ordered one additional and the second one was dull grey, both are smooth sag. Quality was good Case quality but I have found that I have problems with carbon pocket knives rusting in my pockets, this happens with in one working shift and now I mostly use SS. A side note I just ordered the yellow 47 they were talking about in traditional forum and like it, it has working knife all over it.
Bob.

Seems like the stag on most of Case's knives is always the big question mark. I don't have one of these, but I'm constantly tempted by it. The '47 pattern in general is very attractive to me. You might be able to find a few dealers on the 'auction site', with specific pics of actual knives for sale. Sellers with very good feedback will often provide additional pics if asked (nicely). I've seen at least a few examples listed that way (knife pictured is the actual one received), although sometimes the sellers will price the 'prettier' ones accordingly.

I have one. It is a good knife. I am not super into stag, so that didn't mean much to me. I bought it as a comparison to my '79 47 pattern stockman. I am not thrilled with the new 3 spring design. It has little snap, much much less than the older knife or my GECs. The blades are of thinner stock and have less finish than the '79 or my GECs. Lastly, there is some rub, but not much. Definitely less than my '79. The Calf Roper on the other hand has zero rub.

For the money, I would go for a GEC calf roper and perhaps live without the stag.
