I would like to modify a 54 trapper pattern to turn the spey blade to a sheepfoot blade.

Has anyone done this mod? I could modify the blade, but I can't put the nail nick one the pile side of the blade.

If anyone has done this or had it done by someone else, I would appreciate pictures or details.
If anyone does this type of work, contact info would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Not a sheepsfoot, but I did do a wharncliffe a while back.

The new nail nick is uglier than a mud fence, but it works. It was done with a cutoff wheel on a Dremel tool.

I like that, my biggest concern is getting the top of the nail nick square (90 degrees) and not angled so your nail can get a good purchase.

I have done this to a couple of my trappers. Turned out pretty good. Used a small belt sander and a cup of water, went slow removing a little at a time. Just don't over heat! I left original nail nick it just removed a very small amount of it I just finished it back out with 1000 grit sand paper.
