[/IMG] anyone know what year this was made in and if they are rare thanks for info

Need a clear close-up of the tang. The side with the CASE logo and dots (if any) will tell us the age. Also, can you tell if the handles are bone or plastic? They look like plastic (delrin) in the photo to me

thanks for the dating chart I determined it was 1974 with jigged bone handles

I don't think it's bone. The way the jigging and the color transition looks near the bolster looks way more like jigged delrin than bone would, especially Case's bone from the year your knife was made (typically a bloody dark red color). The 6 in 61011 can mean either jigged bone, gigged synthetic, or jigged wood (and it's definitely not wood). The best way to tell wood from delrin is too look very, very closely at it. Bone will have a bit of "grain" to it, like wood or ivory, but will also have tiny little pits or grooves, where capillaries once ran. Delrin will just be smooth with no visible grain.

Nice knife, regardless.

You asked about rarity. It's neither common, nor rare. I'm not terribly familiar with this model, but I'd wager that while it's not exactly commonplace, finding one in that condition at about that age isn't frustratingly impossible either. The blade and bolsters definitely show some aging on the surface, but the edge itself looks unused, or virtually so.

yea it does have some ware to it and the bolsters are lil rusted but the blade is still very sharp good condition for its age I picked it up at a pawn shop for 15 bucks good buy I thought
