This is my first "Texas Jack" and its pretty close to the 63032 stockman. Well here's my question based upon the fact that i've never seen either of these two models before.

The main clip blade doesn't close completely and I can snag stuff and snag my finger while trying to grab it.

Question: Is this normal for this model?

The only other blade is a pen blade and instead of opening up straight along the line of the handle, it is really curved down the way a spade blade does on a stockman.

Question: Is this normal for this model?

I've also had a little trouble sharpening it. The blades are CV just like my 6318 stockman. But I can easily use my "Sharp Maker" and get my 6318 shaving sharp in just a few strokes. But I cannot really get anywhere with the CV on this 62032.

Question: Has anyone ever noticed a difference between CV steels from case knive to case knife?

On the bright side, the amber bone is the best I've had and I love the idea of toting the two blades. Its lighter and I have less to think about when I'm about to use it. I just always use the clip blade and keep the pen for personal use like cutting fruit or opening mail etc. . .

Thanks for any help on these questions.

If it's a new knife, send it to Case. I have a 6318CV, and the main blade didn't close straight, it struck the liner and cut into it. They fixed it perfectly. If you can't sharpen it TELL them to test the steel! They should either confirm it's O.K. or send you a new knife!!! All it will cost you is one-way postage!!!

Nope, waynorth is right, I would definetly send it back, and Case will take care of you.

It shouldn't, but I admit I have Case knives from as far back as the 70's that I see this on at times. To me it seems to be caused by poor fit between the backspring and blade.

With these and the sharpening porblem, it sure sounds like you've got a bad one, which can happen to any company that makes as many knives as Case does, lemons slip through sometimes.

The good thing, is that Case has great customer service, They'll make it right for you.

This is odd. I've noticed that on my cv Texas Jack it too is really difficult to sharpen, just can't get an edge on it whatever system I use. Always been puzzled by this as cv is usually almost self sharpening. Glad you raised this.

Get the diamond sticks for the Sharpmaker or get the Lansky Diamond Sharpening system. Works well on slipjoints. I have had to reprofile many of my slipjoints to get them to where I can shave with them.
