I bought a Case 6235 1/2 five dot pocket knife. It has a sqare-fish loop on the end. Trying to find manufacture date.

Looks like '75. Thanks. Do you know if the metal loop is something Case made or maybe the previous owner? I can't find any pictures of these knives with a loop on the end. It doesn't look homemade.

Sounds like you're referring to a bail. I've never seen one with a bail but I'm not an expert. My guess is a homemade bail.

It's easier if you upgrade your membership, or maybe sending it to a friend who can post it! Knowledge must be sought!!

Thanks for the info. This is a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. I know little to nothing about knives. I gave $45 for this one. Any idea what it may be worth?

We're not allowed to talk value below gold membership level, but I think you're all right. The bail is a rare touch anyway.

For those wondering what a Case 6235 1/2 looks like, it is the third one down. The middle two are Case XX 6235s, a little older than the OP's.
Shown with Barlows for size!! (Same frame I believe!)6235s and Barlows.jpg

K, if you ever figure out how to post a pic, I'd sure like to see it. I've never seen one with a bail.

Waynorth: I've always thought the 6235 1/2 and the Barlow shared the frame also. The blades tend to be almost the same too. The only real difference is the bolster.

Such a great knife from Case--I got two a few years ago, a '78 and a '79, both delrin. One was near mint and one with a patina from carry. I liked them so much I carried each until they looked about the same and this past year gave I one to a buddy--by that time I'd forgotten which was the shiny one!

It's a doggone near perfect EDC slipjoint, with a great action.

I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on an Appaloosa bone example in the classifieds here on BF. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the knives above is that very knife...
