About 6 weeks ago I'm visiting a friend in West Virginia and came across a Case knife I've never seen before that I bought called the 63043 1/2 Whittler. It's 3-3/4" to 4" closed with dual pen blade and a clip-point.The clip-point is wider than a stockman but it's beautiful-XX stamped INTO the clip-point with the shoulders ground off the spine...very reminiscent of Schrade Walden's style. It is a splitback as two backsprings hold the clip-point bladeThe pen blades also have the shoulders grounded off too. What's interesting about this knife is the clip-point's tang stamp says...

CASE BROTHERS
BRADFORD,PA
19USA90 (1990 year manufacture no dot dating system used)

The reverse side reads...

TESTED
XX
63043 1/2

The twin pen blades both are tang stamped...

CASE BROS.
TESTED XX
BRADFORD,PA.

I can't even describe the Case handle emblem as it's attractive...but not the common oval shape, nor is any of the tang font what Case commonly uses.Carbon steel blades and caramel colored jigged bone scales.

So can anyone tell me anything about this Case knife?

"Case Classic" Made for Parker by Queen, not Case. Some of the same patterns overlapped with the Queen-made Winchester knives for Blue Grass Cutlery.

Post some photos

I read your post and checked it out...you were right!Even though this isn't directly a real Case factory knife,I'm actually impressed with it.Bummed initially at first because I haven't been much of a Case knife chaser except for the New Grind bladed models from the eighties so this whittler really struck me.But brand new and as a user? it wields an interesting piece of knife history. Thanks Jake!

The Case Classics and Winchesters were some of Queen's best work in my opinion.

Sorry Ernie my digital camera has been on the fritz lately.BUT I did check E-Bay for you and there appears to be several...so they are floating around. It appears after a year or two after this whittler model was started it went through several changes. The standard nail-nick for the clip point went to long pull. The 'XX' stamping into the blade went to surface etching.Emblem design and bone color changed. Now I'm sweet on long pull nail-nicks but if you observe the position on the 1992 version and imagine the resistance on those twin springs?the standard nail-nick on the 1990 version might be more comfortable...it's got some vicious snap!I can usually close a stockman clip-point one handed, but this puppy I wouldn't suggest veering from two-handed closing.

Thread necromancy - I'm interested in this pattern. I haven't owned any Case Classics. I've seen them around, and I know this whittler pattern was produced by Queen. They're on the pricier side, so can anyone give me a review if you own(ed) one? Thanks!
