I picked up a 6318 the other day at work. A fella was taking some knives to a show and gave me a look. There were some nice, older ones but I already had examples of those. I love stockmans in general. I often carry an 8OT, when I see these at flea markets, garage sales, etc..... I can't help but buy them if all blades are present. Even when badly worn, I just really like them.
Back to the case 6318. I love this knife but had a question. Does the sheepsfoot blade sit up really high on these? The one I bought did. With the main blade open you could see the edge of the sheeps foot sitting above the handle line. As soon as I got it home I filed the kick and it sits much more comfortably now. Just curious.

In rereading my post I noticed I had edited it in writing and screwed up my description.
Pics are always best!

Mine was a bit high too. I have a new 6318pu and the slim clip blade made it look really proud. I did the same file trick as you did, and now it's perfect.

They do tend to sit a bit high, but what you described seems a little excessive.

Mine sit high, yes. I filed down the kick a bit and now it sits just right.

My observation is that some sit higher than others. Varies from knife to knife, never found the need to file a kick, just haven't had one excessively high. OH
