I got one of these the other day. I was happy that it is in CV instead of Tru-$hit. I originally had only went to buy a yellow handled trapper, but I bought both. I wanted the yellow handled Trapper as my EDC, but I just love the choice of a small pen blade and the larger blade, instead of two big blades on the Trapper. The funny thing is both knives were only $70.00 together. What do you guys think of the Texas Jack?

My brother has an texas jack that is pretty neat, I prefer the larger Trappers myself, but the T.J. is a nice knife.

Plenty ;-)

Works well for me ;-)
And it gets used!

I love the patina on that blade. I think I have to let mine go a bit to get that look!

You're lucky. The Lowe's near me never seems to have any CV Case knives in stock.

Dead easy.... just cut an apple with it :)

Instant patina! It doesn't show too much in the photo, but it has different hues of orange and purple and overall gray.

Clean the blade first with spirit so that there is no trace of oil or grease... then just make sure that you use the whole of the blade to cut the apple. You can see (near the tang) where I didn't on the first apple :)

Then afterwards, give it a clean with a bit of water and a cloth to get the sticky juice off.... and then stone the edge to bring that back to bright metal. The smaller of the two blades hasn't been "apple treated". These photos were taken just after I had the knife from new. It has a little more use now though!

Fringgin' awesome Rod! I am gonna apple treat mine today I think. That can be like a custom Case upgrade. LOL

Can someone post a pic of the texas jack in a CLOSED position please? Thanks in advance..... :)

Here 'tis.... the one at the top is the Case Stockman CV, with an identical frame.

Good choice USAFP!

I don't carry my Case knives much anymore, and of the three Case knives I did acquire, two of them were the Texas Jack pattern. One is the model that you have, and the other is a large Texas Jack with jigged chestnut bone handles from the 90's. These two are my favorite as the blade choices provide a lot of versatility.

If I get a chance, I'll try to take a picture of the chestnut jigged bone Texas Jack...
