Case and Acrylic Scales..

I don't think I would be excited about it, but that doesn't mean that others wouldn't... Case has been bringing out a lot of different scale choices, so you never know.
You could always send a knife to one of the people here that rescale knives, and see if they could do an acrylic red. There are Case knives with red acrylic scales, but they are swirled and not just a solid red color. They aren't actually done by Csae though, that part is done outside by another company.

Have you seen their corelon handled knives? Very similar to acrylic, and it may well be an acrylic type material. I believe Case farms out their corelon knives. Don't think I've ever seen them do any of these in solid colors. Case has done red delrin before though.

I seem to recall hearing some buzz about this... and that it was unauthorized modification & sales, and that the work was less than up to par... Anybody confirm/deny?

I have seen the corelon handled knives, not my cup of tea, but not too bad. Only got to check one out, not carry it for a while.

You might look around on the 'bay and other places, for knives handled in so-called 'mica pearl'. So far as I know, it's still acrylic, but in a myriad of colors & 'swirl' patterns. I have a Case sowbelly re-handled in some of this. For a while, a gent by the name of Michael Prater was re-scaling some Case patterns in it. If you search, I think he still has a web page with pics of many colors of it. Some of the knives he did were basically just factory knives, but with the new scales. Not too expensive, at least then. Most of his stuff now is high end customization of Bucks and Case patterns, complete with exotic inlays, filework, and sculpting of bolsters & such. Not cheap by any means.
