Anyone carry a CASE Backpocket knife? The one I was looking at was in caramel sawcut bone and has a lanyard hole. 4 5/8 inches closed. A quick browse around shows that the Backpocket comes in a few steels and blade shapes. I prefer the look of the skinner blade over the clip blade. The skinner is in the Trusharp.

I have one. It's a large knife that is probably better off in the back pocket when carried. I do like the blade. Unfortunately I've only carried it a couple of times. I just don't have much need for a knife that large day to day. If you have a use for that large of blade, I'm sure you'll like it.

I bought A CV in Chestnut bone, thinking foolishly that that would be the "One". Very well put together, extremely sharp right out of the box. I helped the patina along a bit and carried it for a while but just never quite made a connection with it. I keep it in the center console of the truck and carry it at work every now and then but I just don't really need that much blade on me for daily use. If I spent more time out in the woods I expect it would see more use. I think it is a very well executed design and it carries okay in the right front jeans pocket as well as my back pocket. I don't really care much for back pocket carry as I have lost a couple of really good knives over the years that way. The flat handles and overall slim feel make it right handy. It gives you the blade length of a Buck 110 in a more pocket friendly knife. A tad pricey for an experiment, but if you think you need a pocket knife with a longer wider blade, it would be serious candidate.

Thanks for your thoughts and experiences. Perhaps too large for frequent use, but I do like the look of it. Maybe best if I can ever handle one in person before investing and paying shipping and the rest it. I could get caught with duties and broker fees as well as it has to come over the border.

I had not thought of it getting lost so easily. My largest knife is 4.5 inches but it has a pocket clip and I carry it in my front pocket.

I have a few of them ( jigged bone, G10, Buffalo Horn) all with the clip point blade.

They are large ( about the size of a Queen Mountain Man) , but considering their size, they're light and thin.
I carry mine in my left front pocket next to my wallet.
IMO it's one of Case's better patterns.

I like the Backpocket, and have maybe 3 or 4 different variations of the pattern. It is a big knife though. Larger than most people expect. The narrow blade profile also makes it a bit persnickity to open, IMHO. And the half stop feels a little odd, with such a long blade. It almost feels like there's a recoil as it hits the half stop. The handles do flex a bit if you squeeze them hard. But overall, I prefer it over most Case patterns. It's big and sleek and cuts quite well.

I'm not a huge fan of Case's usual low hardness stainless steel, but they do produce a nice 154CM version, which has worked out quite well for me.

It carries much smaller than its size since it's so slim. It really is not that heavy either. I carry mine quite a bit but usually in the sheath shown on my hip but sometimes in my front pocket. With it in the front pocket and in the sheath I forget its there most of the time. I would never carry a knife in my back pocket.

If you like larger traditional style folders, the Case Backpocket is a winner, imo. It's very comfortable in hand and in pocket. When I carry mine, it's in my front pocket in a leather slip pouch (keeps the knife upright.) I agree with Brother Woodrow: the Backpocket does look a bit awkward in pictures, but the design makes complete sense in hand.

Case Backpocket SS in molasses jigged bone

If you want a slightly smaller single-blade folder from Case and don't mind a back-lock, I think the Copperlocks compare favourably and might be worth looking at.

Good luck, Mike! :)

Yes the larger Copperlock is definitely an option. I handled a mini-copperlock (which is still a nice size for EDC. Sleek and light) at a store on the weekend and I liked it very much so the big brother Copperlock may be a good way to go. The addition of the lock is a nice feature.

The 'Antique River Logs' covers look amazing on the Copperlock... I believe there are also a few different CV models available now, too...

I've had the original drop point, the skinner and the Panama Jack. All three were great knives, but I liked the skinner the best, probably because of the bone scales and lanyard hole. All three were had with SS, the skinner was goldenrod bone Case calls it I believe, and the others were ebony.
