A lot of Case Backpockets have a clip point blade but some of have a different blade that I don't know the name of.

What is everyone's opinion of that different blade? Do you like it or would you have preferred the clip point? All thoughts about it would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what all blade profiles they offered..... A drop point might be sweet, but Case does currently offer a "skinner" blade which looks like the old butcher/skinner patterns and is kind of like an upswept spey.

The Tony Bose designed Case Back Pocket is offered in two blades - clip and skinner. The Case Panama Trapper is the 2-blade version of the Back Pocket which contains both blades.

I have a Case Back Pocket with the single clip blade. It's a big knife but carries easily because it's fairly thin. I can imagine that the 2-blade Panama Trapper would be a pretty good handful. The skinner blade doesn't really appeal to me visually for some reason, but I'm sure it will cut things. I don't ever need to skin anything so I can't judge if it's ideally suited for that purpose or not.

I like the clip on these visually, that said I too don't skin, so maybe the other blade would be handy. In no way would I call it a spear-point though, too much belly. It definitely has that Old Hickory knife blade feel to it.
Thanks, Neal

The link is to the manufacturer web site, not a dealer. I believe that is usually allowed.

Good gracious. The moderators on here are getting awful picky. Every other thing I say isn't allowed.

Want to talk about pocketknives? Great! Don't want to? Shove off. Leave your internet tough guy at home.

Can't even talk about Case pocketknives on a pocketknife forum. One of the most well known pocketknife companies in the world.

No moderators involved, just a concerned member. Your link is still up, so everything's OK. The blade in question is called a semi-skinner or a bullnose skinner. It's a very effective blade for field dressing game, as the hump (bullnose) keeps the tip from cutting into stuff you don't want to cut when opening up the chest cavity. I like that caramel sawcut bone a lot, too.

Here's the photo so we can remove the link if necessary:

I rather like the look. Thanks for pointing it out. I'd never seen one before.

No one said anything about not being able to talk about Case knives.
The guidelines are that links to manufacturer's are allowed. Links to dealers must be to dealers who have BF dealer memberships. They keep the site open by paying the fee for a dealer membership. So we promote them instead of their competitors.

The only one here talking tough is you. Everyone else is being perfectly civil.
There are posting guidelines posted in the stickies in this forum, but they mostly boil down to three main items:
1) talk about traditional knives
2) Use family friendly language.
3) Post friendly.
