Case Blade Question

Good eve all - yesterday, a member was trying to figure out where to buy a Buck (edited) Model 110 because supposedly different retailers sell the model with different blade materials (CPM-M4, S30V, AUS 8, etc) I suppose due to different retail price points, which I never knew varied. The blade I mean.
So I looked at 4 that I own, and they don't have any obvious stamps to tell what it is, but I have one with a "C" after the Case name stamp, one with a dash 1 (-1) (or maybe a sidaways/lazy "T), one with a dot before the name and two dots after and the last has dots too, different pattern if I remember correctly.
I googled to see if there is a code somewhere, but turned up nothing. My question here is, does anyone know how to tell the difference, is there a code somewhere to tell me, do the stamps have other meaning (like year manufactured?)
Thanks for any help - I'm real curious now!

Case 110, the lockback with the 3 changeable blades? Case has never used any steel in that model other than Tru-Sharp in that knife to my knowledge, and the have definitely never used AUS8, ZDP or S30V. The only steels used by Case are: Tru-sharp, Chrome Vanadium, ATS34, and BG42, and the latter 2 are special runs. The Buck 110 has been made in S30V, CPM154, 440C, 420HC, ATS34. Maybe that's what they were thinking of?

The only thread I remember of that sort was about the Buck 110.
I agree with Samhain73 as to the steels Buck has used.
Neither Buck nor Case has ever used either CPM M4 or AUS8.

four of what knife do you own?

If they are Bucks, the symbols on the tang should indicate the year or range of years of manufacture. The Buck subforum should have some info on how to read the symbols. I remember printing off a chart of the symbols a year or so ago. I think I found it on BF's Buck subforum.

If you ask this question over there, prolly a couple dozen of the collectors will chime in with the right info pretty quickly.

AFAIK, Buck has only used 440C, ____, 420HC, CPM154, BG42, and S30V for their 110 series. I can't remember what came just after the 440C, it didn't last long.

Just to update some info,
Case started using CPM154 on the new desk knives they started making this year.

It was 425M. I don't have a 110 in 425M, but I do have a 501. It sharpens easier than 440C, and holds an edge longer than 420HC. I prefer 440C though.
