What do you guys think of the Case Bone Stag 6.5? Most of the pictures I've seen, I like. I've never seen one in person though. I'm thinking about ordering one, probably a large stockman, and just looking for some opinions. Pics would be cool too, if you have any. Thanks guys!

I like it for the most part. Ironically, some of the actual stag that I've seen leaves a lot to be desired in the area of appearance. In some cases the bone stag looks better than the actual stag... With every knife I make sure that I'm able to inspect both sides prior to purchasing.

I like the 6.5 Bonestag. As you can tell from the fact that this is a teardrop, these covers are from the current release of the 6.5.

This view is interesting. Because the ridges are not aligned identically on both sides, the material appears to be thicker on one side compared to the other. Actually, the covers are the same thickness on each side. But it gives an interestingly realistic appearance and is quite friendly to the hand and pocket.

In terms of what CASE usually offers for Stag, I would agree with you, their Bonestag (and Queen's version) is generally a lot more rewarding than what is often lacklustre Stag. I had a Peanut in Bonestag but gave it away, a Saddlehorn in it I sold so now I only have a Med. Stockman in it, a great gnarly example in cv that I'm certainly not letting go. Grippy stuff.

I have a barehead saddlehorn like deskil's above, but I modded the skinner blade into a Wharncliffe on mine.

Love those barehead bone stag saddlehorns!

I also very much like the wharnie modification. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a saddlehorn and do the same thing for an EDC knife.

Thanks, MT, the mod does make it more useful for me. I really like a short, stout, straight-edge blade for a lot of things.

I like the 6.5 bonestag and will be checking out the recent Case releases. The saddlehorn sure does look good, and dang Jeff that a really good looking mod!!!
The bonestag gives a touch of classiness without the price of real stag also.

older pic...also of a teardrop, zulu spear.

I also have one of the Case Saddlehorns, a 2008 version with two bolsters - this knife is comfortable to carry and use and the bone stag looks good as well. OH

Case does not call this line of knives "Bonestag". Nor do they mark it with a 6.5 tang stamp.
This is a Swayback Gent in "Deep Canyon Goldenrod".
It sure reminds my of the same process.

With that stated, I like both the Bonestag and the Deep Canyon handles.
Not as much as real prime stag, but it is a nice alternative to traditional jigging. Along the lines of 2nd and 3rd cut bone.
As prime stag becomes less available, it is nice to see different choices arrive on the market.

I agree hamsco. I too very much like deep canyon jigging and the majority of the bone stag, so long as it's deep. I also like worm groove when I can find it. I suppose I like these because in my opinion, they've got more character than plain jigging. It goes without saying however that nothing beats gnarly stag!

Very attractive goldenrod saddlehorn there. I like the thickness.

The thickness is nice, and feels good to the hand. Thank You.

The Bonestag seems to vary quite a bit. I've seen some that looked terrible and some that was gorgeous. As with real stag, I would rather see the actual knife before buying instead of ordering up a random sample.
