Got this a few years ago, and have been playing with it lately...WONDERFUL build.

ATS-34, stainless bolsters and liners, bowtie/propeller shield, and jigged bone scales...no side to side play, great walk and talk, fine finish, great grinds..fantastic feel in the hand....about as good as many customs and ANY production made knife.

What is the specific story on these Case/Bose factory collabs...how do they make this knife so well?

As far as negatives...the heat treat seems to have left my blades a little hard and brittle at the tips, and it is a bit thick, compared to some customs.

The thing ROCKS!!!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Steven, from what I have read here in the forums, they are Tony's designs and Tony sets up all the specifications. The final work is done off the assembly line by a few Case employees that are pretty well skilled in fit and finish. From what I have seen they are one of the best factory customs out there.

I've got to agree, STeven, this is a great knife. I have five of the collaboration knives and it's definitely one of my favorites both as a pattern and for its utility.

I hope you don't mind me posting this here. It's not a Trapper, but I wanted to share my Tony/Case lockback Whitler. I just started EDC it again two days ago. I was going to put it up for sale...... insted it went into my pocket!

I've got one of those as well, Kodiak. A great knife that Tony says is a bear to make. (Okay, forgive the pun.;))

I don't carry mine but I do enjoy admiring it for its unique characteristics and complexity.

Steven,

I must agree with you and Blues on this one. I had picked one up early on at a local show here in West Palm Beach right after they came out of production. However, I don't recall the heat treat/brittle tip issue that you have described. But, admittedly I didn't use it much and sadly sold it off so I could pursue my custom knife addiction at the time..

And as a side bar, its nice to see you are visiting here more often now as of late. Some great thought provoking threads you have initiated here, and I am much obliged for them.

Anthony
