So yeah, the backpocket has caught my interest, and i have been looking at some online.

Just curious, I cant seem to figure out if it is carbon steel (CV?) or stainless steel. So i figured I would ask and see if anyone around here could answer this for me...

thanks in advance
Ryan

A chestnut bone model came out just a few months ago with CV, and the rest are stainless (including another chestnut bone model). Best thing to do is check the serial number before purchase, which should end with CV or SS.

ok cool thanks

anyone have one? hows it working for you?
like it? love it? wish you had spent the money on something else?

I have one here that I just finished retouching the edge on. I do use it. I bought 3, mainly because I couldn't figure out which I'd prefer. I gave the redbone to a guy in my unit. I use the chestnut, and the ebony's packed away.

Mine's in stainless, there were no choices last year.

It's okay, but if anything, too big. Most chores I have don't need a big knife, and so I carry a smaller whittler too. That gives me 4 blades to chose from. I do like the way it feels, but half an inch shorter would have been perfect.

I've got the dark red bone and ebony, both with the factory lanyard. Love them both. They can take on a wicked edge. My co-workers that have seen them have been very impressed as well. I highly recommend them.

thanks for your opinion...
one thing that is appealing to me is actually keeping it in my backpocket (hehe) to free up space in my front pockets. Do you feel it was too long for this? or 1/2 inch too long for your front pocket?

I put a lanyard on mine and it works well in the back pocket ,although i usually carry it in the side pocket.Im used to a Buck 110 so it doesnt seem too large to me.I want the CV steel model. It is a great knife in any flavor.( :

I carry it in my back pocket. It's exactly as long as my wallet, so that's good. I don't use a lanyard: I don't like to advertise. The "too long" is just a subjective thing. but, it's true, a shorter knife would probably end up in a front pocket.

thanks for all the imput fellas

now i just gotta save up a little $$ and pick it up before the wife kills me for wanting to uy ANOTHER knife lol

This one is CV and was shaving sharp right out of the box. I've only used a ceramic rod a few times to keep it ready. Even though it is a good sized knife it melts into your pocket because it's so slim. I truly enjoy mine.

I have an ebony SS model, and use it regularly. I've had it since December of last year, and have touched it up a few times. As long as you maintain the edge, it is a great user. I would like to pick up a CV model.

well, the main reason it has caught my interest is that it supposedly fits in my back pocket therefore freeing up space in my front pocket
with as much stuff i carry daily it should really help me out...in addition if its designed to be kept in your backpocket, it should be ok there (i worry about breaking/bending other knives if i sit on them)

glad to hear that folks out there are enjoying it and that it is working out well for them

Does anyone have one of these and a 125OT they could compare it with? I have been dreaming of my long lost Old Timer but may rethink it if this is close.
I'm just comparing size, I know this doesn't lock.
Thanks.

Forgive the poor lighting and the as-found condition of the Old Timer. It belonged to my uncle, and I just recently turned it up again. I hope it's a helpful picture.

That helps a lot. Thank you. I believe I am still dreaming of my old 125OT. The backpocket is smaller than I'd expected.
Thanks again.
