Well, Ive had my eye on this knife since it hit the market. I have a few Collaboration knives, Arkansas Hunter (the best build fit and finish),Lanny's clip very very nice, (mediocre build fit and finish) Wharncliff trapper ( its nice a little small sometimes) and the Wilfred lock-back Hunter ( very nice ).

I have searched and found a few threads on the Case/Bose cattle knife and zero youtube videos which I usually depend on so I can see how the knife fills the hand and how functionally the knife works. Been carrying a Case sow-belly TB6339 cv roughly 3"7/8 long when closed ,on and off trying to get use to a three blade pattern. Also have a AGRussell dogleg trapper but its a 2 blade pattern with only 3.5 inches long closed, not as close mimicking the cattle knife as is the Sowbelly. I was really wondering about the fit finish, and usability of this knife. I want to start paring down some of knives Ill turn 63 this year and while owning XM-18s Sebenza's, lionsteels, etc is great i cant see pocketing those when I'm older.

Any opinions, reviews, videos, comments appreciated.

Yeah thanks Ed, but doesn't really address the questions I posed, believe me I've searched many ways and their are discussions on cattle knife vs stockman. Tony bose custom made Cattle knife, other versions of the Cattle knife not real knife review ,comment on how it performs how fits the hand, how hard the blades come out with regard to nail nicks, I take that back I did read one comment about that only one.

Here's a BF thread that might be helpful. The first post was when the community here found out the yearly collaboration was going to be the cattle knife. The following posts are pics and comments from folks who received one. Some of the photos are missing but there's still a lot there.

If you've seen this already ..... never mind :D

I don't own one, but I handled one at a knife show. I would say it would carry much like the TB6339.

Fit and finish is near custom.

I think it is worth the money, if you like the pattern.

Gary's reference to the thread should prove very useful for you. Post No.148 on p.8 has pix of the Cattle Knife with a Sowbelly. It is quite a bit smaller so that might be useful to bear in mind. From the various pictures I've seen it is a quality representation of an old pattern, it is however quite a thick knife so that might count against it for some and it appears to have relatively thin scales. This is something I would not like in a knife but it's all a matter of your taste.

Generally, most people seem satisfied or are very enthusiastic about their knife so that is significant I feel.

I have an ebony one and I love it. It is currently at case getting a slightly lazy main blade fixed up. But it's an outstanding knife. And the half stops, perfect. Blades are not nail breakers but lock into place nice and solid. The best quality production knife I have. Very near custom quality fit and finish.

I like mine a lot. The first thing that always comes to mind when I think about, hold, or use the knife is that it just screams "working knife". Having owned other Case/Bose collabs you should be familiar with that signature walk and talk that Case/Bose knives posses. The crisp half stops, great snap, and just right blade pulls are present in the Cattle Knife as well.

Having the nail nicks all on the mark side took a little getting used to but once I got used to it, I began to really like the feature. Regarding the nail nicks, I found that I needed to let my thumb nail get a little longer than I normally keep it in order to comfortably grab the nail nicks. I usually keep my thumbnail trimmed to about 1/32 of an inch. When I'm carrying the Cattle Knife I keep it at about 1/16 of an inch. Not a big deal and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only person that has that issue.

As for performance, I'm probably not the ideal person to comment because my knives only see very light duty and they don't see that very often. The Cattle Knife is way more knife than I'll ever need but I could say that about other knives too.

Personally, I think it's one of the best collabs yet if not the best. But then, I've only ever handled the Norfolk and the Cattle Knife.

checked out all the threads, suggestions. Great info sounds like a great knife, time to find one thanks for taking the time, and recommendations.

RailSplitter, Special thanks, read your review from 2015, excellent along with your comment here I'm sure I will find it just as described.

You're welcome, texbaz. You may have seen my comment where I stated that I liked my Antique Bone so much that I bought another one in Ebony as a backup. The Ebony has found another home but only because I realized that I don't need two.

For whatever it's worth, the Ebony version was just as good a knife as my Antique Bone version. Identical in fit & finish and blade action. If you like yours half as much as I like mine, you'll be delighted.

Railsplitter, thanks again. I really like the bone especially the Chestnut seems to have more mass. Kinda wished the jigging was more Rogers like and not the peach seed. But, I'll try to find a Chestnut bone model first, if thats not available then the brown like yours. The ebony definetly looks more refined, just never could warm up to the material. It does look nice.
