Case/Bose collaboration question.

This may have been asked before, but I haven’t found it. Why are some Case/Bose collaborations significantly more costly than others? When you look at the big auction website, some will sell for $200 and up. Other models claim to be Case/Bose collaborations and have the TB on the tang stamp, but sell for well under $100.

Is there a site that gives a list of the Case/Bose knives made so far? I haven’t been able to see any at the W. R. Case site. Thank you.

Richard

try knifetalkforums.com and look at the Bose sub forums. It is a pictoral list. The lower priced patterns are not collaboration knives in the strict sense, although they are patterns that Tony has provided Case, they are standard production models. The true collaboration knives are produced on a special limited run and hand finished by a small number of Case's top cutlers, hence the higher price.

Also, the higher priced collaboration knives are finished in such a way that they are very close to the original design of a knife that Tony would make. Same steel, stainless hardware, bronze aluminum pivot bushing, excellent fit and finish and premium handle materials. TOTALLY worth the price they charge for them.

Tony generally goes to the PA plant in the spring to help them with whatever nuances there might be in finishing the new collab model. This years model, the Arkansas Hunter, is quite a challenge an needed some extra TLC from the Old Dog :) but I believe Case is going to do an excellent job with it.

When will the Arkansas Hunter become available and where can it be ordered? Is anyone taking preorders?

artdeg,

I think Case is pretty busy, and will be getting these Arkansas Hunter Collabs out this fall, around October. Cumberland Knife Works usually has some, along with the A. G. Russell Company. This is just a few that I know of that shouyld give you a start.

So in another thread I wrote that the Hunter was coming out late July but now we all know its October. I guess I was rather overwhelmed at Blade, but here are some other release dates for Case models, this time from a person at Case:

"The Case/Bose Arkansas Hunter will be out starting in Oct. The TrapperLock will be out probably around late July or early August. The Sway Back Jack will be out later this month."

The trapper lock is, of course, not a T. Bose pattern.
