I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'm curious about this series and I'm wondering if some of the very knowledgeable people here could tell me more about it. I was following the thread on the 2009 Norfolk and fell completely in love and ended up buying one. I've looked for a couple of others, but I can't seem to find any that are more than a couple years old.

I'm also curious about how these knives are made. I'm reasonably certain that they are not "true" customs but I'm guessing there is a greater deal of human effort that goes into making them. Are they considered by most to be a sort of "mid-tech" knife or are they more of a limited production piece?

Finally, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who likes to see beautiful pictures. If someone would be so kind as to show me a few of their collaboration pieces, I'll be sure to photograph mine, along with some other traditional friends for comparison. Thanks!

Wow! Thank you, that was exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I would still love to hear people's opinions or comments though, if they care to share them.

I own five patterns...Slimline & Millennium Trappers, Muskrat, Dogleg and Lockback Whittler.

All are excellent knives and are near custom quality (except for the slimline which is a bit behind the others in fit and finish).

As you suspected, there is more hands on work evident on these and from what I understand there is a small group of cutlers at Case who have been given the privilege of working on these knives.

I am particularly enamored of the dogleg and muskrat as candidates for EDC and though I don't have one (yet), the Norfolk also appeals to me strongly both for its aesthetics and utility.

The Arkansas Hunter is an outstanding knife. The fit, finish and quality of mine is great.

I only have the '03 Dogleg Jack, but it is superb. F&F is excellent, as is the design.

From what I understand, the Case/Bose collaborations are made by a small group (I've heard that it's a 3 man team) that are given 2 knives made by Tony Bose. One can be taken apart & the other's a final piece to compare the finished product with. From what I understand, the Case's are made within VERY tight tolerances to the original.

They're not customs, but probably as close to one W/O actually being one, if that makes sense. It's also probably the closest I'll come to having a Bose knife, lol.

They're also pretty limited in #, although they make many more than a custom maker would make of a certain patter. While you can find them for sale now & then, people seem to keep theirs. They sure are nice.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I literally cannot wait until I find that Norfolk in my mail. I have a thing for wharncliffs and it seems like a perfect EDC. As CL mentioned, I have not seen many older models floating around, which is a shame since many of them seem very, very nice. I wish I could find a dealer for the lockback whittler. Then again, maybe not ;)
