Case/Bose collabs reissue?

Hi folks,

I just finished perusing a favourite Case dealer's site and it looks like they are offering pre-orders for both the slimline and millenium trappers, this time in raindrop damascus and dark molasses bone.

Does anyone know more about this? Will these pieces be limited production or regular production? Will they still have the same level of fit and finish as the other collabs (this my be hard to gauge, as they aren't slated to hit the market until October)?

I couldn't believe it. I've been thinking about trying to snag one of those slimline trappers and this has given me pause. Any details anyone might have would be most appreciated.

Oh...here are some pictures in case anyone was wondering. I still can't believe it!

Those look pretty nice. I'd like to find more information on them too. What I see on Shepherd Hills site is pretty minimal right now.

Only 100 of each are being made. No word on whether they will go back through the rest of the collabs and reissue them. I got on a dealer's list.

It would be nice to try out one of the collab patterns in a (mostly) carbon steel. Does anyone know what the edge retention on the raindrop damascus is like?

I don't know if it's the same steel, but I've been using a Case Seahorse with Devin Thomas' 1075/nickel raindrop and the edges are holding up very well. I'd rate it slightly lower than Case CV, but noticeably better than their Tru-Sharp stainless in both edge retention and its ability to take a fine edge easily.

I saw them at the Blade show this year, very nice! They are the same F&F as the originals, with Damascus blades. The Case rep said the prices would be like the originals plus a premium for the Damascus steel.

In these patterns I prefer the original (non-damascus) steel though I have no doubt these new versions would be excellent in every way.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never really liked the look of Case's Damascus. I think those would look incredible in some of the etched A2.

That slimline is one very sexy cutter!

Yup, I have been eyballin' that one especially, not sure if I am going to jump though. That is a nice pattern to me. If they do the whittler again .. oh baby.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a collab slimline trapper. I think my prayers have been answered!

I really like the raindrop damascus. I think it adds a whole new dimension to a pocket knife.
