Hi guys,

New to the Traditional forum. I'm looking at picking up a Case/Bose Muskrat with raindrop damascus, and I'm hoping someone here has one and can give me some feedback on it.
Fit & Finish, is it worth the $$ etc.
Also, any pics I could get of the back of the knife, showing the springs with the blade open etc would be great. Actually, any pictures would be great.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to picking up my first slipjoint\traditional pocket knife!

Have you tried to google 'Case/Bose Damascus Muskrat' ? I'd bet you'd get plenty of pictures. Your probably going to spend over $300 for one of those.

Having owned several Case Bose collaborations, you won't be disappointed. I've been lusting over that Muskrat for some time now. Someday.

That is a beautiful knife, good luck on your quest to find one. I have several of the Case/Bose collabs and they are wonderful knives.

The Case in raindrop damascus/stag are absolutely stunning. I believe ( to my eye anyways) that Case puts a bit more effort in the quality control of these knives. The ones I've handled have had stellar fit and finish.

Thanks everyone for your help, it is appreciated. I managed to find one at a reasonable cost and jumped on it. I am looking forward to receiving it.

Looking forward to pics! I'm hoping to buy my first Case/Bose collab this summer, with the Lanny's Clip. I've yet to handle a collab, and am quite curious as to the overall quality of the things. It seems quite steep in price, to me, so I'm anxious to see how they measure up.

I too am curious to see if the F&F justifies the price, as it is quite expensive. I will post pics when it gets here as I did have trouble finding pics of this knife.

The cost is quite high, agreed. They are the very best production slipjoints made, though that doesn't always justify them being priced at what many customs can sell for.
Looking forward to your opinions on the muskrat.

Hi guys,

Just got my muskrat today. What can I say.... I love it! I bought a yellow derlin stockman locally while I was waiting. I've got quite a few victorinox swiss army knives, but these two case knives are the first traditionals I've had as long as I can remember, though I'm sure I had some when I was young.
Since I got the stockman, I've been carrying it everyday, and have really come to appreciate it. Just as a point of reference, my main everyday carry knife is usually a spyderco paramilitary2, a strider or a crk large 21. I have been carrying the cv case as a secondary blade, and I have honestly been using it more.

To get to the point, the Muskrat is really quite amazing. I've never had a custom slipjoint, though I have one on the way from TA DAVIDSON. I think I've been bit by the traditional bug!!
The fit and finish on the Bose/Case collab muskrat is quite good. They definitely pay more attention to the F&F on these. I haven't had a chance to use it, though I plan to do so. The only thing I've noticed so far is how strong the spring is. I actually broke part of my thumbnail off opening it one time. (See picture below) Will this get better??

Here are some pics:

I will post an update in the future, as I get some use out of it!

Man, that sure is a sweet knife there, Erik! You did good!

Was it the clip blade that you broke your thumbnail on? Looks like the nail nick on that blade sits pretty low despite the cut out in the scales. It will likely loosen up a little as you use it and along the way, you might discover that it gets easier as you get used to it.

Awesome knife!

That's a real looker, Erik! I have quite a few of the Case/Bose collaborations, but none in Damascus. I might have to rectify that.

Rick,

Thanks very much! I'm smitten with it for sure!
It was indeed the clip that broke my nail. It sits down pretty low, though I think I'm getting used to it. I'm still hoping it will loosen up over time.

Gary,
Congrats on the Case/Bose collabs, I can see myself buying more in the future!! The raindrop damascus is really very nice. I found what I think was a good deal on ebay.

Gorgeous knife, and the most useable combination of blades for everyday chores.

Should be a joy to use for a very long time.

Great looking knife :)

Congratz!

That damascus steel looks really nice.

Kind regards

Jeff,

I love the wharncliff, and it's interesting that it's the easier to get two between it and the clip, as I think it will get more use. The clip is slightly buried, though no doubt has it's uses. I hope to pass it on someday!

Andi,

Thanks very much! First two pieces of raindrop, and I've gotta say I quite like the look and feel of it.

Daniel,

Oh yes she is!

Erik
