First of all - forgive my ignorance - I'm SO new to traditional knives.
I just wanna know what warrants the price of Case Bose collaborations.
Are they so much better then "regular" Case? Or is it just a "collectorbility"?

Benya,They are basically the closest thing in a factory made knife to a custom & they are quite nice, too
Tony Bose went to the cutlers there & pointed things out to them, too. They are spectacular. And they did progress as they went, just like a custom made knife by a custom maker.
This years ,the Tribal,is quite the EDC knife, quite possibly one of the best single blades ever,IMO.

The collaborations are much higher quality in materials and workmanship. They are as close to a full custom as can be obtained in a production knife. Maybe Mr. Bose or someone that knows more about this (Elliott, Gus?) can give more details, but the answer to your question is basically that Case and Tony work together on these collaborations and they have to make a very high quality standard before they can be sold. Workmanship and materials are very high grade. You won't be disappointed if you bought one.

Now, I am going to defer to more expert opinion, but you get the drift.

I gladly pay the price of a Bose collaboration because of the work put into it by a Master knife maker, Master with a capital M. The knife, in every aspect, from the overall style of the knife to the engineering of its parts, is carefully designed by Mr. Bose. He participates directly with the manufacturer in every aspect of its production. And for us who appreciate Mr. Bose's work, it is worth the price; those knives are historical pieces.

Lastly, the finishing and materials that go in a "collaboration" are several notches above the regular production knives.

I believe that is laudable that Case works with Mr. Bose. First, they have the opportunity to nurture from his talent; second, it shows their respect for the Craft of superior knife making.

Yes, I believe the "collaborations" are worth every penny they charge for them. And they'll make you happy. Start collecting them and you'll see.

In addition to the excellent quality of the Caes Bose collaboration knives mentioned above, there is more labor involved. The bolsters are milled in the collaboration knives, whereas the other Case knives have pinned bolsters (which include brass liners with stainless bolsters on top). Look at photos of the collaboration knives compared to production ones at an angle that shows the liners and blades. You'll start noticing some important differences. There are some quality pics on the first two pages of the following thread:

You really have to hold one in your hand. The quality will astound you.

Yes, and I wish Case would make a regular line of knives with this quality. I would rather pay the higher prices for this kind of quality than the lower priced lesser quality knives that they produce normally.

Look at it like a line of automobiles. Not everybody needs, or wants to pay for a Cadillac. A Chevy suits them just fine. They're not planning on babying the Chevy anyway, so why pay more. Case produces different lines of knives for those willing to shell out more, or less. I don't think they could incorporate that kind of extra attention given to the Case Bose line as they do to their regular knives without greatly upping the cost.
