1. There are two handle colors I am interested in. The Antique and the Dark Molasses. For those of you who have both handle colors, will you post side-by-side pictures of them so I can compare (for this, it doesn't matter what pattern the pocketknife is).

2. I'm interested in purchasing the Coffin Jack specifically but would like a comparison with a pocketknife I know. If you have a Coffin Jack, could you take a picture of it next to a mini trapper, medium stockman, or medium texas jack?

Thank you for all your help!!

What I've often wondered about the Collab knives is why they have a mixture of stainless and brass pins? My Norfolk certainly does, and pix of other patterns I've seen appear to have this. It's odd. Custom knives have stainless pins or at least ones the same as the liners, not this mixture

I just looked at the four I have at hand, Norfolk, WT, two models of Lock back Whittler. The pins look like stainless steel to me. I'm curious about this and hope someone knowledgeable on the subject weighs in.

Thanks for your input Gary.

My Norfolk certainly has a domed brass centre pin and two flat stainless pins. The centre pin discolours. It is a bone handled one, not seen this on Ebony models though but some posters' pix of other bone models look like brass too...

Well, I thought I could add something but I guess not. I took my Norfolk and my Cattle Knife out in the sunlight so I could see them better and I still can't determine if the pins are brass or stainless. I see whichever one I'm trying to see. If I look for stainless, they look like stainless. If I look for brass, they look like brass.:o

Carry on.

I recently purchased an ebony coffin jack cb, I read everything I could find on fit and finish compared to say GEC. The knife is not perfect but I enjoy it nonetheless and will indulge (hopefully) in an eureka jack whenever they come out later this year. I hope you get a good one and enjoy it too.

All I know for sure is ebony handled knives have a nickle silver shield as opposed to stainless for the AK Hunter. This is due to stainless being too hard compared to the ebony for the final buffing/polishing, you'd remove too much wood compared to the shield. I got this from Case. One could assume that this would hold true for pins as well and other ebony handled knives.

I have one bone handled Case-Bose Yukon Jack from early on and it has stainless pins. All my rest are ebony and the pins are silver-colored.

Thanks for that info, brownshoe. It solved a mystery for me. I always wondered why the shields were different on these two Cattle Knives. I appreciate the information.

None of the Case Bose have brass liners. Does that mean (in general) brass parts are lesser quality?

Interesting, none of my Case/Bose knives have any brass on them. They have stainless pins and liners.
