Case/Bose Sowbelly pattern change?

Just looking at some pictures of the new Sowbellies coming out of the Case Vault and noticed that they show the sheepsfoot with its nick on the mark side -- the pre-Vault Sowbelly definitely had the sheepsfoot nick on the pile side. I much prefer having the nicks on the same side, provided the shape of the main blade allows the sheepsfoot to still sit relatively low in the frame and still give good nail nick access, but I'm rather surprised that Case has made this change (if the pics aren't lying -- availability in October). And yes, the Stag Rancher is CV. Gentlemen, start your wallets. Pics all snagged off a well known Case dealers site:

It might be a mistake in the artist rendering but there's definitely plenty of room on the mark side for a nail nick.

I'm right-handed, and I can see the utility of having the sheepfoot's nick on the same side as with the clip blade. These are the two blades I use most often on the stockman pattern, so it'd be convenient to lever both of those open from one side, without flipping the knife over.

I think the ONE reason I'd prefer to have the sheepfoot's nick on the back (pile) side is, I like the option of filing down the kick on that blade, so it rides lower in the handle. Assuming, of course, the spey doesn't get in the way. I did this with a Queen #49 Cattle King stockman, and I really like the lower profile of it. The sheepsfoot's spine is now flush with the spine of the clip blade, so it 'hides' very nicely behind it.

Also looks like a different grind on the spey blade, compared to the one sitting next to my keyboard.

Well, how about posting a picture of the one next to your keyboard.

The spey does look like it's got a deeper swedge than on older versions. And it looks like the swedge extends the full length of the spine, all the way back to the plunge line. On mine, the swedge stops about 1/4" short of that. I'll see if I can post a pic of mine tomorrow (light will be better), if somebody else doesn't beat me to it. ;)

FYI, I'm comparing to my 2006 T.B.5339 SS (as seen in my avatar pic).

For comparison, here is my T.B. 5339 SS (2006):

First two pics are of the spey, which seems a little different from the new version (the swedge grind, at least):

Very excited to see the release of this pattern from "the vault" and very, very hopeful that there will be a stainless option with no shield (unless Case would like to start pinning their shields again).

In the meantime, that Antique Bone SS is a sure order when it's available

They are different; didn't notice until now. Nice stag on that one David!

Thank you. I've always liked the looks of this one. Think I probably paid more than the going rate for these at the time, when I bought it. But the seller posted some good pics, and the looks of the stag are what made me pounce on it. :)

Oh, my. Another line item for the budget dear...

I knew I should have held off on that last revolver...

Thanks for the pictures 0G. Now to go look for myself...

been looking to see where one of these can be picked up...anyone know? striking out with internet searches. not looking for deal spotting, just a place that may have them in stock. is the rancher the only one in CV? i thought the last release they were all CV. thanks!
